Family Law Appeals

Our firm prosecutes and defends a variety of family law appeals, including appeals from cases involving divorce, modification, termination, custody, visitation, child support, community and separate property, premarital and prenuptial agreements, and grandparent rights.  Jimmy L. Verner, Jr., devotes most of his practice to family law appeals.  Our appellate practice extends across Texas:  Travel is no barrier to representation in an appeal because typically only one court appearance is necessary, to argue the appeal.

A note from Mr. Verner:

I was first licensed to practice law in 1979. Since then, I've done a bit of almost everything, but my focus has been on litigation, both trial and appellate.

In 1990, I began limiting my practice to family law. Over the years, I've narrowed it even more, to focus on family law appeals.

I've litigated family law cases in most of Texas' fourteen appellate court districts. I've also sought and opposed review of family law cases in the Texas Supreme Court and in the United States Supreme Court.

You can check on my experience by visiting the Dallas Court of Appeals – my "home" court of appeals because my office is in Dallas – where at last count I have served as counsel in 58 appeals.

You can also check me out on Google Scholar which picks up many of my cases plus articles I've written. It also picks up some of the articles and cases that have referenced my articles.

In 2012, my peers selected me as one of the best appellate lawyers in Dallas in D Magazine's annual poll of lawyers.

Let me put my experience to work for you. Send me an email, or contact Becky Borders, our office manager, for an appointment. I do not charge for initial consultations for appeals.
