Family Law Listserv

Texas Divorce Lawyers Listserv

Texas Divorce Lawyers is a discussion list for lawyers who practice family law in Texas. Also welcome are attorneys from other jurisdictions, judges, law students, and professionals from related disciplines such as psychology. If you practice at all in family law, and you want to share thoughts, experiences and ideas with fellow family law practitioners, then this list may be for you.listserv

My name is Jimmy Verner. I practice with Verner & Brumley, P.C., in Dallas. I am the list owner. Please contact me with any questions, comments, problems, etc.  I can be reached at jverner@vernerbrumley.com

Although this discussion list is monitored, it is not moderated. In other words, if you post a message, within minutes it will be sent to all subscribers. Messages are not screened, so be sure what you want to say before hitting "enter."

The discussion list is designed to be a free and open forum for discussion of family law issues, but not in a ponderous way. Humor and lively discussion are sought. Feel free to post whatever you like within the very general subject area of family law.

I look forward to many fruitful discussions with all of you.

List Rules

1. This list is open only to attorneys licensed to practice law in Texas or some other jurisdiction, judges, law students, and professionals in disciplines related to family law. When you subscribe, please identify yourself so that your status can be confirmed.

2. In your first post to the list, please identify yourself by name, location, and anything else you would like the rest of us to know. Think of your introduction as a resume "plus" - not only do the rest of us want to know about you and your practice, but we want to know a little bit about you, too. Possibilities include hobbies, pastimes, kids, pets, whatever.

3. It is not kosher to confront a discussion list member with a post that member has sent to the list anywhere outside the list, such as in court, in a brief, or otherwise. Any list member who violates this rule will be immediately stricken from the list.

4. It is anticipated that list members will hold strong and impassioned views on some subjects, and discussion of these views is encouraged. However, personal attacks and invective will not be tolerated.

5. Please don't attach files to your posts. Some email programs won't accept them, and many of us are afraid of viruses. If you are using Netscape, turn off the "v-card" feature. For the same reasons, please post in text format, not in html.

6. In the subject line of your message, give some indication of what the message is about. This will help everyone sort through the messages.

7. When you reply to a lengthy message, delete all but the pertinent part. This will help computer memories from overloading and email from slowing down.

8. Comments and suggestions are always welcome. You may either post them or email them directly to the list manager.

9. The membership list is confidential. It will never be furnished to anyone for any purpose, especially commercial purposes.

10. If you go on vacation or otherwise are out of the office for an extended period, please do not use an autoreply mechanism. If you don't turn off the autoreply, you will create a chain reaction of autoreplies which will quickly clog up the list.  Instead of using autoreply, either unsubscribe from the list or suspend your subscription, then resubscribe or unsuspend when you return to the office.

11. If, in the sole discretion of the list manager, you abuse your list membership, you will be summarily removed from the list.
