Who We Are

Janet P. Brumley primarily practices collaborative family law. She published "Divorce Without Disaster," the definitive book on collaborative practice in Texas. Ms. Brumley is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization; is a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers; and has been honored with inclusion in Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers (each year from inception to date), D Magazine Best Lawyers in Dallas, Best Lawyers in America, Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas and Top 100 Lawyers in Texas.

Paul Brumley tries divorce and modification cases in district and county courts. He is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been honored with inclusion in Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers (each year from inception to date) and Best Lawyers in America.

Jennifer Stanton Hargrave, who is associated with VernerBrumley, tries divorce and modification cases in district and county courts and practices collaborative family law. She is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been honored with inclusion in Thomson Reuters Rising Stars and D Magazine Best Lawyers in Dallas.

Jimmy L. Verner, Jr prosecutes and defends family law appeals, tries divorce and modification cases in district and county courts and assists other attorneys in complex cases and post-judgment matters. Mr. Verner is Board Certified in both Family Law and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been honored with inclusion in Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers each year from inception to date. He also holds a PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy.

Becky Borders is our office manager and serves as a paralegal for Janet P. Brumley and Jimmy L. Verner, Jr. She completed her paralegal training in 2000 through North Texas University. She worked at Southeastern Paralegal Institute before joining the staff at VernerBrumley in 1999. She has trained other paralegals in collaborative practice and serves as the liaison for the Dallas Alliance for Collaborative Family Lawyers. Lawyers, both inside and outside the firm, and clients treasure her able assistance and "can do" spirit.

Leslie Nuñez is the legal assistant for both Paul Brumley and Jennifer Stanton Hargrave. She began her career with VernerBrumley in 1999 as receptionist and has worked her way up to her current position. She has proven herself invaluable in both her acuity at discovery and her compassionate nature. In our office we say "Les is more!".
