Parents often want what is in the best interests of their children. This is true whether the parents are married, divorced or never in a long-term relationship, to begin with. While parents want to do what is best for their kids, they often disagree on what is best.

These decisions often include deciding who will have primary custody of the children, how often each parent will see the children and how other important decisions will be made. If the parents cannot come to an agreement on these issues, a court will issue make the decisions based on the best interest of the child.
Former reality television star Jon Gosselin has recently said that he wants to change the custody order that is in place for his children with his ex-wife Kate Gosselin. The couple has eight children together including a set of sextuplets. They grew to fame after starring in a television show about their life; the show ended with their bitter divorce.
Jon now believes that his six youngest kids would be better off if he were to have primary custody. Under the current arrangement, Kate had primary custody of young children. Jon says that Kate’s behavior — including an embarrassing incident on national television — is evidence that the kids would be better off with him.
It will be up to a court to decide if the arrangement should be changed. Generally, child custody modifications are possible when there has been a significant change in circumstances that would make the change be in the best interest of the child.
